Leave the Leaves, Save the Stems
Take a deep dive into the ecological benefits of changing your fall cleanup practices, while also exploring how to manage the practical and aesthetic concerns that arise when we keep autumn materials on home or community properties. Explore how fallen leaves, decaying logs, and gone-by flowers can nurture overwintering birds, pollinators, fireflies, turtles, and more. You’ll gain practical tips for best ways to “leave leaves” and explore how doing so can enrich your soil, suppress weeds, and more. You’ll also leave with new knowledge about the multi-year process of saving stems. This class is geared towards both new and experienced gardeners, whether you are gardening at home or in public spaces.
