Asters and Goldenrods
Asters (Asteraceae) and goldenrods (Solidago) are autumn showstoppers, but they are also large and taxonomically complex groups, and sometimes it can be hard to distinguish one aster from another. Through a visual presentation, herbarium specimens, and field application, you will learn how to identify several species of asters and goldenrods and how to use identification keys to differentiate visually similar species based on subtle characteristics and habitats.
