Coastal Field Study at Haile Farm Preserve

During this field study, we will explore the unique ecology and climate of Rhode Island’s coastline at Haile Farm Preserve in Warren. From red maple woodlands to large swaths of salt marsh, Haile Farm Preserve offers rich examples of the botanical diversity that can be found along coastal areas. Led by botanist Shannon Kingsley, you will learn about the plant species growing in these different habitats, the ecological importance of salt marshes, and how to collect a proper voucher specimen. Shannon will also discuss some of the species she collected at Haile Farm Preserve for Rhode Island Wild Plant Society’s ReSeeding Rhode Island initiative.
